- Going back to natural - This seems to be a trend now, but already in the year 2000, I cut my hair off and kept it all natural for 11 years. After 3 years of sporadically relaxing my hair, I'm going back again! I'd love to say I'll report on my progress here, but knowing the bad blogger I am, I won't make any such promises.
- Getting ready for school - Not me, but Em just turned 6 (yes, 6!) and is starting school next term. This seems to mean a lot more mental preparation for me than for her. My baby's all grown up!
- Making my home homelier - In September last year we moved to a much bigger space. We're enjoying it, but it takes time to fill a bigger space than one's had before and make it cosy. Next project: a photo wall!
- Beach 2015 - I don't know what happened, but suddenly I've only been to the gym once in the last 7 months. That all ends on Thursday when I intend to become a gym bunny for life!
- My next career move - My girls' night in on Friday might just be the beginning of a new successful venture and I feel excited!
The tales of a Ghanaian Swede in Accra. Entertainment, thoughts, outbursts, English, Swedish, it's all just basa-basa!

A little update
So I am one of the worst possible bloggers that existed. I don't update regularly, I forget to respond to comments and most of the time I write about dreary topics like death and bad friends. Still, in case anyone wondered, here's an updat of what I've been up to lately.

Kind spirits at the gym
There's a boy of about ten, possibly twelve, who follows his mum to the gym. The boy, who is quite short is very fat, obese in fact. Every day, comments are made, either to him or behind his back, or looks shared over his size. Usually he follows his mum around, hangs his head and looks a bit sheepish, moody, knowing that if he meets someone's gaze, they could easily tell him loudly, "if you want to lose some of the weight, don't just stand there, get on the machine!".
But today, there was a change. One of the fittest and most popular guys at the gym took the boy under his wing, saying "come, let's try running outside". When the boy was getting tired and slowed down, he took his hand, it was the sweetest picture, seeing them running hand in hand. And when he really was too tired, they both stopped, rested and chatted. Both of them even took part in the sit-ups competition (which I took part in and won!), amidst laughs and jibes.
I have never seen that boy work so hard, and yet I have never ever seen him that happy before. It's amazing what a little support and kind words can do.

This week
Suddenly the days are flying by so quickly, before you know it, it's time to go home. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. At least the social calendar is filling up quite nicely for the week, sushi with Dirty and Miami tomorrow, funeral on Thursday (well that's not fun), sushi with the poetress ; ) on Friday (see what happens when you wait several months before eating sushi, end up wanting it every day of the week), a wedding and a 70th birthday party on Saturday (both distant relatives) and possibly a lunch on Sunday in Tema (but hopefully Sunday will end up being as relaxing as it should be).
Now, off to see Virgo before we go to the gym to shape up for bikini season. That expression has no relevance here as every season really is bikini season. Went to the gym yesterday morning and did those awfully effective lower ab exercises. Will hopefully have gone from this

to a sixpack in no time!

Suffering in the Land
Saturday night and Sunday can be summed up in a few words:
bed, toilet, shower, bed, toilet, shower, no internet, shivering, boiling, freezing, more bed.
I blame the tiny dollop of ice cream on my pudding the day before for causing my gut-wrenching sufferings. Well, at least I had a "restful" weekend, didn't leave the house all weekend, finally got my hair done. What made yesterday a bit too painful was not having any internet connection, but it was only one day and Virgo came over to see me anyway. It seems in my most sorry state I had ordered him to come and he knew better than to disobey.
Managed to go to the gym this morning so I am definitely back in action, albeit a few grams lighter and with a tidier head of hair! ;)
