That One!!!!

An hour ago I thought it was just a rumour, but after checking BBC's website, I realise it is true: Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize! Can this man do anything but go from strength to strength?? I doubt that anyone, even a hardcore Obama-fan like myself, could have imagined or foreseen this a year ago.

One of the reasons for selecting him? "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future".

I don't think any further words are needed to describe the uniqueness of Obama. Today I am proud of the world! While Americans (well, about 30% of them) are screaming out against Obama and the proposed healthcare reform, the world is celebrating him for his vision and potential. Isn't it funny that your own people will always be the last to recognise your achievements?

Despite the fact that I'm a hardcore Obama-rite, even yesterday I would have never imagined that this was possible!

As someone said on Twitter said:

"Info just came in from the Associated Press saying the Nobel committee mistakenly opened the envelope for the Nobel Prize in 2019 hmmmm"

I suppose his ability to inspire "Change" and "Yes, We can" messages are completely infectious and no-one can deny their effect the world over.
I just feel it is too soon.

Definitely too soon Abena. I don't know what it is, it's like Obama has jujued the world in his favour, lol!

But despite all the positives that are coming his way, are we not setting him up to fail? How much faith can we put in ONE man to change the world? Still he is so unique in many ways, the way he can capture the world being most significant, so I can see why they'd want to reward him, but perhaps the Nobel Peace Prize was not the most appropriate prize (yet). Rather, Inspirational Leader of the Year?

I like the Twitter quote, have seen similar feelings expressed on facebook.

I feel people need to calm down a bit, I just didn't think the Nobel Prize-giving committee would ALSO fall prey to the Obama spell. It's IS too soon.

@ Maya - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one worried for Brother Obama. Do they really believe he can single-handedly do all they are pinning on him? It's funny because he doesn't speak about doing this on his own AT ALL. But other people do. I wish God's grace over that family.

Nsoromma,I'm beginning to wonder if all this is caused by the fact that the world is in such bad shape at the moment so that everybody is looking for someone to be the next saviour to sort it out.

I also firmly believe that it is Obama's humility that ensures his continuous success.
