Water water everywhere...

...and it's not even rainy season!

I may be in Gothenburg, but I'm following the current situation in Ghana as best I can. I'd heard there had been heavy rain, very unusual for this time of year, but I didn't realise how bad it had gotten, until I read that five people had died in flood related events. And the full extent of what 'heavy rain' meant wasn't realised until I saw this picture on Joy's webpage:
However, a few moments later I caught this shot on a Fb friend's page. Don't tell me us Ghanaians don't know how to make the most of a bad situation!

Such a sad situation. The major flooding was on my mother's birthday on Wednesday. You can imagine that been awoken at 3am by relatives in Dansoman was hardly the start to the birthday morning she hoped for. I tuned into Ghana radio to hear the latest news and it all sounded like a completely disastrous situation. Ironically, my new Thai flatmate in NL is completely traumatized because Thailand is completely flooded and the waters are looming dangerously close to her home in Bangkok.
From the sounds of it, Thai infrastructure and approach is soo much better than our own.

I didn't realize how serious it was till I saw entire cars submerged and 5(!) people had died.

Sorry about your mum's birthday Abena, I can just picture the situation.

I too followed the Thai flooding on the news since it coincided completely with Ghana's. We have a looong way to go in terms of infrastructure.

Me neither, Raine. Interestingly, depending on where in Accra you are, some people didn't see any evidence of flooding either.
